{"id":708,"date":"2011-02-20T20:04:34","date_gmt":"2011-02-21T04:04:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/?p=708"},"modified":"2011-02-20T20:04:34","modified_gmt":"2011-02-21T04:04:34","slug":"first-float-of-the-year-march-19th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/first-float-of-the-year-march-19th\/","title":{"rendered":"First Float of the Year March 19th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We will be having our first float of the year on March 19th.\u00a0 The float will be from Oxbow Dam down to the Campground.\u00a0\u00a0 Floating down from the dam will give you opportunities to fish areas that you have always wanted to get to.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Willow Bar:<\/strong> Starting at the top of the club getting out and fishing Willow Bar should be fantastic at this time of the year when rainbows come up stream.\u00a0 Wading could be tough as the water should be running high 1000+ CFS.\u00a0\u00a0 Willow Bar has very little pressure and is a long great run.\u00a0 Nymphing with large rubber legged nymphs with PT&#8217;s &amp; other small nymphs should be very productive.\u00a0 If there is sun with little wind we should see some hatches.\u00a0 There is a takeout on the north side at the storage area for those that want to cut their float short.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Boxcar:<\/strong> The Boxcar run is the most popular place to fish except for the lake below the tunnel.\u00a0 After running through the fast water the run dumps into a deep and long pool.\u00a0 There is a nice eddy and a nice shelve along the south side of the river.<\/p>\n<p><strong>American Bar Rapid: <\/strong>This will be the most challenging part of the float.\u00a0 I suggest you just float through this run as you can access it normally fairly easily from the boxcar or hiking down American Bar.\u00a0 Once you get to the bottom there is a great eddy as the rive turns left and you enter into a series of deep pools with Little Pleasant Bar on the left.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Little Pleasant Bar: <\/strong> This is a great time to get off on to Little Pleasant Bar and fish this run from\u00a0 a side that offers great opportunities.\u00a0 Very deep nymphing is recommended.\u00a0 This will\u00a0 allow you to fish the eddy and far bank accross from the camp grounds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Big Pleasant Bar: <\/strong>Time to end the trip.\u00a0 This is the bar below the campsite.\u00a0<strong> YOU NEED TO STOP HERE !!!!\u00a0 THE TUNNEL CHUTE IS A LEVEL FIVE\u00a0 RAPID AND SHOULD NOT BE RUN.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After hauling up your gear, take a break and have a beer and burger.<\/p>\n<p>Tight Lines,<\/p>\n<p>Tom<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We will be having our first float of the year  [&#8230;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"ngg_post_thumbnail":0,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[31],"tags":[45,46],"class_list":["post-708","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-horseshoe-bar-preserve-events","tag-first-float-march-19th-horseshoe-bar-preserve-map-on-website","tag-float-on-the-american-river"],"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/708","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/7"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=708"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/708\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":710,"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/708\/revisions\/710"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=708"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=708"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.horseshoebarpreserve.com\/fly-fishing-american-river\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=708"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
