Grey Eagle Bar (GEB) is the long bar of cobbles that is located about a quarter mile below the lake. The main river runs along the north side of GEB. There is also a small side channel 100 CFS that runs along the south side of GEB. There is a rope tied across the side channel to help you access upper & lower GEB pools. At the top of GEB there is a wide expanse of shallow water (pic 4) that splits, as indicated above, around GEB.<\/p>\n

The main river at the top of GEB has a strong fast flow due to the river narrowing (pic 2 \/3). After a series of fast riffles there is a deep pool which we named upper pool at GEB. It is deep and fast. Lots of big\/strong 18\u201d + that make long runs with lots of aerials are in this pool. You have to go deep with big flies to get them interested. On occasion they will hit the small bottom fly when nymphing. I usually have my indicator & 3 BB\u2019s set at about 12\u2019 to 15\u2019 or more. There is a huge boulder about 10\u2019 (pic 1) above this pool. This area is very dangerous due to steep banks and fast\/deep water.<\/strong> Getting down to river level is tricky and you should be very careful and wear a flotation device. Wet wadding is recommended for safety reasons. Wader belt is a must and a second is recommended. Cast upstream as far as possible to allow your flies to get deep.<\/p>\n

Flies: 8-12 rubber leg centipedes, crawdads, Bottom flies, 14-18 PT\u2019s, Prince Nymphs, copper Johns.<\/p>\n

Sinking lines use Sculpins, wooly bugger. Strip short fast strokes without stopping.
